Stitching together material from failed musical experiments, Phantom Pains is the memory of a wound. Fragmentary soundscapes color improvisations delivered on amplified cello and ethereal synthesizers, as a central motif is presented in fervent screams and ragged whispers, and passages of violent activity give way to desolate drones. Even as pain is the experience which binds the human race, it is one which we each experience alone. Phantom Pains is the journey from each moment and memory of impact into that isolation. Being that Phantom Pains is a pastiche of different motives, It seemed proper to invite the producer Matt to sort of stitch these isolated ideas together with the studio being a “meta” instrument.
